Vega de Ario

Ario's mountain meadow is located in Picos de Europa Western Massif, also known as Cornión Massif, in Asturias, Spain. This location gives the Marqués de Villaviciosa Mountain Refuge spectacular views over the Central Picos de Europa Massif, -aka de los Urrieles, where one can enjoy the peaks of: Torrecerredo (2648m), Llambrión (2642m), Tesorero (2570m). Also you can hike up the most visited summits around the refuge: Jultayu (1940m) only an hour an thirty minutes away, which is an impressive lookout over Caín and the Cares gorge; Cuvicente peak (2015m) 2 h 25 min away; Verdiluenga peak (2130m) 2 h 5 min away and many more. 
Vega de Ario refuge is placed in a privileged spot for the mountaineers who hike the long routes of the area, for instance the Picos Ring (Anillo de Picos.  a round route around the refuges of the area), as well as for those people who would like to visit us following the marked route from the National Park starting point, PR PNPE4,  which climbs 530m and it takes aproximately 3 hours. Once in our shelter you can enjoy our homemade food, local produces such as "gamoneu" cheese, home made ecological bread, and cold and hot drinks. 
The refuge is situated at the last end of the route that climbs from Covadonga Lakes. From here you can continue down the spectacular Trea Canal which takes you down to Caín hamlet and once there you can access the Central Massiff. Also you can do shorter routes from the refuge like the above mentioned to the peaks surrounding it, following the cairns marked routes.
