Jou de los Cabrones
The shelter Jou de los Cabrones is placed in the Central Massiff of Picos de Europa at 2034m above sea level and therefore, the highest and most inaccessible in the whole Spanish territory.
Sorrounded by the highest summits (Torrecerredo, Cabrones, Dobresengos, La Párdida) and the deepest chasms in Spain, the area is known as the Himalayas of the chasms (Torca del Cerro 1589m deep)
The name " Jou de los Cabrones" comes from the great number of big male wild goats which are now extinct but used to be the lords of the"hole of the mueños" in Picos de Europa a long time ago.
